The Basics of Good Citizenship on TankNet

Use descriptive subject lines and research your post. This reduces the chances of double-posting, and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Also, scan the subjects of the last several days' posts to make sure you aren't duplicating topics or posts. Consider what forum your topic should be posted in.

Post in the right forum! If it's about tanks, post it in the Armor Forum. Even if it's only humor, an observation, or angst, if it's about something that we have a forum for, post it in that forum. Resist the temptation to post something off topic because you think you'll get "better responses" in a particular forum.

HTML is currently disabled. We have enabled the use of UBB Code instead. This system is very easy to use and the link provides the information you need to insert links, embed photos, and use other useful tools.

No trolling. Don't make posts that are inflammatory just to get people riled up. Substance is the key to not being labeled a troll.

Ad hominem attacks are not welcome. Criticize ideas, not people.

Restrict the use of excessive foul language. Although we don't really care if people cuss (um, we have been known to cuss ourselves now and again), excessive foul language is likely to get moderated, if only because excessive foul language usually indicates that someone is utterly clueless. Buy a thesaurus instead, and amaze and confound your friends with your new-found 'intellect'! We also require that you leave rough or offensive language out of the post or topic titles. A lot of people read TankNet at work, and while foul language "happens", let's try and keep it away from high-visibility areas.

Free Fire Zone. The Free Fire Zone is our version of your local bar or pub. This is the only place it's considered o.k. to discuss things like politics, religion, and other controversial subjects. This forum is not moderated and can be considered to be "without rules". This is, of course, within reason. You can get kicked out of this "bar" just like any other bar, it's just harder to do than on the main forums.

Above all, have fun! Doesn't the world already have enough people who take themselves too seriously? Let's try to remember that we all find different avenues for our amusement and all have different methods of expression while online.
