Simple country fare at my sister's house:
Baked ham
Dressing
Field peas
String beans
Rolls
Dessert:
Chocolate pie
Sweet potato pie.
I gorged on the veggies, very little dessert. Nothing like home-grown, home cooked veggies!!

Shep854 I know what you mean. My 90 year old grandmother uses lard, butter, and a to die for bacon grease/vinegar dressing for the veggies she still grows out of her garden and still does the old-fashioned home canning at her farm house. Usually these posts are who has the most lists of food so hear goes:
Appetizers of: green onions wrapped in chipped beef/cream cheese, venison sausage and summer sausage -- both with various cheeses and crackers, and a raw vege tray with ranch dip. The main courses are: butter smothered turkey, honey-glazed ham, slow simmered chicken/dumplings, spiced oyster and non-oyster dressing, sweet potato casserole with the obligatory mini-marshmallows, green beans, broccoli/cauliflower salad, a cottage cheese/pineapple something(aka as manna ), mashed potatoes, yeast rolls, blackberry cobbler, cheesecake with cherry topping, pumpkin pie with whipped buttercream topping, chocolate ice cream, white chocolate covered chex-mix and to top if all off, an old bottle of Tums and Pepto-Bismol
. And, leftovers for, literally, days.
