Finally equipped? We had one on the damn thing in the early 1980s. :)

EFCS, I wonder if that is in fact IFCS cloned?

No, the EFCS-3 was made by the Yugoslavian company Fotona.

I don't know what they mean with "night vision system Generation II". If they consider simple IR systems as "generation I" and thermal imagers as "generation II", then the Iranian Chieftain night vision upgrade is obviously a bit late compared to the British TOGS. But if "night vision system Generation II" references a second-generation thermal imager, then it is a bit better.

Have they reengined these at all? Because for the life of me, I can understand them fannying about updating the fire control system, if they are still running L60s. Heck, if they asked BAE nicely they could probably direct them to the Chieftain demonstrator reengined with Maybach as a starting point. Its in a museum now. Thanks for that, id not heard of that one.

According to wikipedia they might have fitted their Chieftains with "a more powerful engine". No idea if this is true or the fiction of a random wiki author.

Well its a mistake perhaps to underestimate them, but if its anything like their previous Chieftain upgrade I dont expect to be impressed. The only notable difference from a standard Chieftain was putting the tracks on back to front. :)

Could be 2nd generation passive imaging; Gen2 tubes are easy to obtain in the open market, while Gen3 and Gen3 Plus are more controlled.
