The most unlikely choice for this musical group...although they do a damn good job.

Gotta be careful Ken, don't want "Because Japan" leaking into the thread :)

Well done, although the Tokyo Philharmonic may not be invited to Tel Aviv for a while.

From memory, wasn't there some test of Soviet ammo penetrating the front hull of the S tank easier than previously believed?

Looks okay for a Detroit 6V53T diesel engine. No filters no nothing like in old lorries that also belched smoke when changing throttle.

Quite quick to raise and lower and it also turns quickly on the spot. Really an outside the box solution for the sixites and seventies tank gunnery. When full stab became the norm it became obsolete of course.

It was with 125mm APFSDS (3BM-22), and the tank was fitted with its heavy slat armour. Apparently the shot went through the entire tank. No details on the firing range or the other test conditions though.

Well, it was originally tested vs 105mm APDS @ 1000m, so 125mm penetrating it should not be that of the surprise.

Doubt it was the biggest tank battle after WW2 even then:

For a motorized/mechanized infantry only reason why not (not enough carried ammo) becomes mooth.

2 x PKM supported by 1 x 30mm autocannon and 1 x PKTM = lots of dakka
