New toys of Rus MoD

I like how they point out some Israeli rifles, American rations, but failed to address the magnitude of Soviet era equipment they captured. It always amazes me how many weapons of the Rodina are used against it's very own people. More Russian have been killed by there own AK-47s than any NATO country weapon.

The S300 going active would seem to go along with Russian assertions that the IAF needs to back down. Not sure where they are going with that. Is it just one fire unit or is it larger?

Presence of Soviet block weapons is quite logical in Syria civil war as most of SAA weapons came from this source (and then were devided between pro-Gov forces and rebels). Worth noting significant part of Rebel commanders are former high-ranked SAA officers, even first Syrian cosmonaut became rebel commander.

This Syrian cosmonaut went from general to rebel to refugee

Israeli rifles and American rations are completely different story: they are definitely not captured from old SAA stocks, but indicate Israel and US supplying rebels directly or indirectly.

I still wonder whether the CIWS game is too weak on those things to be going up against the IAF.

Systems like Shtora considered toys on this site because they are supposed to be ineffective against Tow 2n-1. But may be they are effective against Soviet era weapons.
As you pointed out, Russia faces many Soviet era weapons, but not just now, since the fall of the Soviet Union. So maybe, just maybe, they aren't completely idiots but arming their Army against the real threats.

It has been pretty much known, and publicly disclosed, that supplies to Quneitra-dwelling rebels, and FSA+YPG from Israel and USA respectively, are a thing.

Not sure why Russian media would choose to claim they supply ISIS but everything is fair in an info war I guess.
