I was informed of this dish by watching a 20 year old episode of Babylon 5: where a mick actor playing an italian tells the station quack that he should push off and not interfere with his dietary intake.  


Over a feed of the stuff Garibaldi and the human veterinarian agree "this is good"



I finally had the chance to cook it this evening.  I had been looking forward to it, but I have not had the chance or the inclination due to various difficulties that I won't go into.


It is a sublime mix of anchovies, garlic, olive oil and butter in which you dip until they are cooked vegetable pieces: cauliflower (life is but a melancholie flower ) carrot, celery, button mushrooms, broccollini  and the like: You eat the veggies over slices of bread and then you eat the bread.    The experience is superb and the anchovies and garlic are nothing like the tastes that those who don't like them would expect.
