26 Russian ships debarking seems like more than just a training mission.  That's a division sized lift.

I do not think they are all Russian  -  operation of that size could not be covered from observation in Istambul and Gibraltar. Will see development.

Without large scale movement of ammunition and fuel, you soon run out both and have to build up new forward dumps. This is a country already ravaged by war. Living of the land is hard.

It is possible to capture some but you are fighting an enemy with air control and organized logistics. Success comes when the enemy breaks. If you get bogged down in a slugfest, you will lose because you cannot bring as many shells and bombs to the fight.

Another option is grain seeds for new agricultural season. Russia currently have huge funds of grain following two good harvests, Gov is buying it to keep prices high to avoid farmers running intio problems – so Syria is good way to use this grain for good purpose (lots of people to feed, lots of very good land to plant grain). Will see.

I think the high point has been reached. Now the pocket is hammered mercilessly.

Is this at all plausible ? The article alleges Russia has given Israel an exploit on Syrian S-300; but Iran has managed to patch it. It sounds fanciful to me.

There is no evidence that any Israeli warplane was downed during the raid. The Israeli Ministry of Defense claims that a missile from an S-200 (SA-5) system was launched at an Israeli jet during the raid, which subsequently was intercepted itself by an Israeli Arrow missile.

It's now being claimed that the SDF has taken Tabqah airbase:

If it was taken even partially intact then Daesh is in big trouble, because that would allow the Coalition to stage helicopters out of the base and once further repairs are made it can be used as part of an air bridge it bring in supplies and weapons for an assault on Raqqa.

They need to move the frontline quite a bit before it becomes safe for any aircraft. Of course SAA is operating even in Deir-er-Zoir, but I doubt US helicopters will do the same.
