No one has mentioned the Shining Path. They came very close to victory in Peru in the early 1990s.

I know less about them, but the Montoneros in Argentina got pretty wooly for a while. I remember reading about them staging an attack on an army barracks that included about 1,000 fighters, IIRC.

Of course, the prize for best named guerilla force has to go to the urban guerilla group AVC in Ecuador.
