This piece about the Colt CK901 rifle, bought by Yemen's then-government in 2019, came out today.  As with most Forgotten Weapons pieces, its quite good:

Another article from the same campaign

https://edition.cnn....-lost-us-arms/]

Sold to an ally, lost to an enemy
The US shipped weapons and secrets to the Saudis and Emiratis. Now, some are in the hands of fighters linked to al Qaeda and Iran.

Too sensationalistic to be good, the piece ignores the fact that Iran already had access to the US tech its seem in Yemen via Syria and Iraq.  It also prints a claim about a TOW airdrop without any substantial corroboration. There's also its reference to a "heat-seeking laser", although this is more a simply Stupid Media Error.  Credit to Joseph Trevithick for a list of the errors, and they are listed in this Twitter thread.

I wonder how many Syrian army and Russian assistants have been shot and and by arms originally supplied by the Soviet Union and its proxies.

It does make a mockery of the End User certs so demanded by State and the high cost of their ITAR certification.

On 7 April 2019, a Saudi-Emirati airstrike hit a school in Sinhan, south of Sanaa city. 11 civilians were killed, mostly female students at the school that was bombed. 39 were wounded.

Funny how Saudi led strikes only seem to hit weddings and schools, one wonders if faulty intelligence data is leaked to them to achieve this result.

Is there a reliable estimation how many sorties the KSA AF flew over Yemen?

This for one and the reliable local sources are probably not so relaible and let the KSAAF bomb a rival clan's wedding parties.

During Soviet campaign in Afganistan, there was at least one case of local man directing airstrike at his rival clan's house, saying it was the place where gangs leaders are meeting at that time. In another incident Soviet pilots in Mi-8 misunderstood local guide whi was supposed to direct them to specific house un the village, and attacked the house he was pointing at - but poor guy was just sauying "And this house is mine"

A positive development. DAESH and al-Quaeda are killing each other:

"Another classic piece of British (& Commonwealth) arms history turns up on sale in #Yemen- a WW2 Bren Gun, likely the Mk2 variant but it's hard to tell."
