Fresh ANNA-News documentary. Interesting the jihadists they kill carry Islamic literature printed in Russian, Syrians believe they are comming from Tajikistan or Uzbekistan, not Arabs

It seems like it bounced off the ground and exploded midair. Not exactly near miss.

As for me it detonated after colliding with electric wire pole or other object

It hit the telegraph pole. You can see the impact and wood chips coming off it.

The depot refurbed T55s and BMP1s are interesting. The absence of more T72BV and BMP2 suggest that this is a pinning attack. Of course it might be that the Tartous Express has been empty but I doubt it.

You can very clearly see that before hitting pole it bounced off the ground.

They sure look pretty mint compared to the battle-scarred BMP's and T-72's that we're used to seeing in ANNA footage.  I wonder if they've replaced the engines as well since that T-55 passing the camera seemed to be smoking quite a bit - although they are well known for that...

At 13:36, the soldier on the far left has a large RPG-type weapon (assuming a disposable type rather than RPG-7), I'm wondering if this is a regular AT-type like RPG-26 or if its one of the RPO-types which are supposed also being used in quantity?

ANNA footage from early June is best reportage. Wondering what the armoured box on the main gun of T72M is? Im guessing a TI and or LRF.

What surprised me was the lack of any kind of add-on armour on the T-55s given the level of threat they're facing

Thanks.  The RPO-A has certainly been seen in service with various armed groups (including the Syrian Army).  I didn't know that the MRO-A was being used as well.

I'm going to go with the Syrian depots not having the capability to install the mounting points for Kontakt and a lack of T-55AMV Kontakt kits in Russian stores.

I didn't realize they made a model of Kontakt for T55.

There is none. Just K1 can be mounted on everything and his granny.

Agreed, it does seem a bit strange.  Even ad-hoc armour like what the older ANNA footage showed where T-72's were using rebar boxes with concrete rubble as a filler.  I suppose no BDD armour kits like what the T-55M had are available then?  For semi-static defensive positions, I'd imagine something like the Iraqi "Enigma" modular armour kit might be a wise consideration?

Who has T-55 BDD and T-55MV mounting kits in stockpile?

These are items that presumably Syria could produce though. Actually any sort of NERA in a box would be feasible and better than the various home made efforts on show.
