Will the ergonomics be less horrible than in the previous French tanks?

Prepare to be disappointed. He got in and out smaller AFV. BTW, never would have expected the S35 to be a secret Czechoslovakian. ;)

Blame Nick--or his producer--for that faintly erotic tease of a title... ^_^

Fun as always to watch Nick try to extricate himself from the tank.  I notice he didn't even attempt the "oh no the tank is on fire" scenario.

Ergonomics are horrible as expected. The way the door in the turret opens is reminiscent of the Panther but worse.

Didn't those vision slits have antisplash screens behind to protect the user from bullet splash working it's way through the slits? Those look like they have provisions for mounting such blocks.

Do keep in mind that french tankers at the time were 20-30cm shorter than Nick. :D

Only when getting in, when getting out there are two, three if counting the bottom hatch.

De Gaulle was the exeption, but he was never really a tanker, only getting his first real taste of them as a regimental commander. This photo shows his height (196cm, if correct) well:
