French Post WWII armor has got to be some of the wackiest stuff.  What is there to say about the Lorraine 40 tonne tank design?  Hull similar to a panther, except it has a pike nose like an IS-3, and oscillating turret, and pneumatic road wheels.


Also fun is the AMX-50 Foch, which is like a jagdpanther on steroids.  The gun is, I believe, essentially the same weapon as the M103 and Conqueror were packing.  Note the interleaved road wheels; the French were the only ones to screw around with those post-war.


Alas, actual French service designs ended up being... more prosaic.  I presume this was due to economic difficulties in the immediate post-war era, and the availability of cheap US equipment.
