I’m afraid ignition electric components would be dead after 70+ years in running water, and taking into account vehicle is now waiting “as recovered” in one of nearby mil bases waiting for its destination decided by MOD and local authorities, not clear if it will be restored at all or just made monument…

Interesting the vehicle tracks were fitted with extra traction brackets, and it was almost impossible for T-72-based recovery vehicle to tow it.

Was the Stuart a turretless version or has the turret yet to be recovered?

You saying I operate with out a turret sport? :D

I suspect it had a turret. For one thing its still get at least one of the hull machine guns fitted in the sponsons. If you were going to convert it into a command vehicle or a turretless version, Im assuming they would have used the space to fit the radios.

Its interesting that it does have those guns. That presumably implies it was an early delivery one, before they were plated over?

It was surely turreted  - as there was still main gun ammunition inside the tank. Turret was, most likely, blown off when river was cleaned to allow ships traffic after war – we hope it is somewhere close, as well as the rest of StuG (riverbed is full of metal in this place)
