A friend of mine has come up with a Mauser (in 7.92) whose markings seem to indicate Spanish manufacture.  Does anyone know of a good source of data on such rifles?

Thanks.

Depends on the model, but 360.000 Mausers were built at Coruña arsenal between 1944 and 1958. When it was replaced by the CETME they were sold everywhere.

In Spanish:

https://www.armas.es...pas-de-aviacion

This refers to an experimental model but the marks should be similar to your friend's:

This should be the Army version:

They were also made in Oviedo. Oviedo Mauser gets you a lot of hits.

Yes, indeed, I am assuming it is a model 43 which was only built at Coruña, but it could be an earlier model. I am no expert though.

Here, I found the full history in English:

You right that its probably a later model. He said it's in 8mm Mauser, not 7mm. Could still be an Oviedo if they made 8mm rifles after their civil war.
