Nicely spotted. The studs show absolutely no sign of rusting, too, so they must be stainless steel - just like the ones on Stillbrew... Very interesting.

5$ say that C1 has no ceramics in turret but just a lot of polymer/HHS combo.

Just as a matter of interest, is it still possible to upload photographs on to tanknet for hosting, and if it is, could someone point this ignoramous how to do it please? Just wanted to up some photographs from the Challenger 1 sales brochure, and clearly photobucket is useless these days.

I think the cost to host the images would be a problem. Last I checked accounts could upload a small amount of imagery but it's very small sizes. Suggest you get a Flickr account or something and post them there with referring links. It's what I do.

Ok, well thats fair enough. I cant blame the management for that decision, it must have cost them an arm and a leg to host.

Ive got some photos somewhere of a Challenger 1 with the turret armour off, I assume everyone has seen that?

Good find! the only difference from the one I had is that it was a training rig or spare, and never had the boxes fitted. It lacked the parallel welded scars down the front of the turret, so Im presuming that was an attachment point for the armour in some fashion. Perhaps the 'Chobham Chieftain' documents posted here some time ago would give some idea of the interaction.

Wiedzmin, are you sure thats a shir2?  I have to admit the mount points for the TOG box on the right side are a bit different from the one I have.

Im not quite sure why they felt the need to paint it black camouflage after removing the Chobham boxes though...

Ill look into getting a flikr account, thanks for that Ryan.

I've seen that tank referred to as Shir 2; look at those roadwheels!
