Chinese People's Liberation Army

中国人民解放

Their activities

The purpose of this thread will be to track the activities of the PLA armed forces. Doing so will help improve the ability to assess the growing capabilities of the military power of China. The US camp has been very active in both individual nation training as well as joint-training with one or more other countries. Even if China builds a large force with many warships and aircraft of high quality, it would still fall short in comparison to US led forces if training does not occur. As has often been stated, training is a crucial factor in determining the actual capabilities of a military. So by making it clear as to what kind of training and activities the PLA armed forces are engaged at, it will be easier to compare PLA armed forces with that of other countries.

In order to keep the thread focused and useful for that purpose, this thread shall include strictly military activities of the PLA armed forces. That means, military exercises, training, joint-training with partner countries, deployment, and military reviews or parades. And the sources shall be strictly about the exercises and trainings only. That means no politics, no human rights, no geopolitics, no economics, no propaganda examples, no point of view and opinion pieces, and no grey Coast Guard behavior. Those are all fine topics that can be properly served in other threads or in the creation of new threads. Some military activities may indeed be connected to geopolitical topics such as any PLA Air Force aircraft circling around Taiwan, but let's stay away from geopoltical discussion in this thread. It is of course always possible to link to a post in this thread as a source of reference when posting in another thread.

Exercise "Peace-19" was an international naval taking place near Karachi, Pakistan, on February 11th and 12th. Looks like HMS Dragon from the UK participated for some parts as well, well is said to be a Pakistan based exercise that included 45 nations, including the US and Japan as well. So this first post is not heavily China.
