That should have included a Phantom doing the interception since the F-4 did it for over 25 years.

Does refuelling (using decadent, effete Western probe & drigue) count as an intercept?

I wonder if there are any photos floating around out there of the US / Nato aircraft being intercepted and escorted by Soviet aircraft?

Orions (not too surprising probably) seem to be the usual 'victims':

There was an Orion that nearly had a Middair with an Mig31 pushing the envelope back in 2012, so yes. If we handled interceptions of their aircraft like they do, they would shit a brick.

Maybe we should.

What is the stalling speed of an Orion comapred with a Flanker?

Not Rus, but there was also the Hainan Island Incident, between an EP-3 and CHICOM J-8...could the EP-3 get a kill mark?

On November 27th, Japanese fighters scrambled to meet a flight of 11 Chinese aircraft flying near and some passing through the Okinawan islands although they did not violate Japanese airspace. However it was unusual because of the number of aircraft involved. 8 H-6 bombers, 1 Tu-154 intelligence gathering, 1 Y-8 intelligence gathering model, and 1 Y-8 early warning aircraft.

Photo taken from a Swedish Air Force Gulfstream, used for ELINT missions, somewhere over the Baltic Sea last year.
