I've been reading through Wikipedia's article on the BTR-60 APC and I don't think I've noticed this variant before, but supposedly both Djibouti (single vehicle) and Yemen came up with the same idea of stripping off the 14.5mm and 7.62mm turret and replacing it with that of an AML-90 armoured car, complete with the 90mm cannon and coax 7.62mm machine gun.

I have yet to see more than a single picture of these BTR-60/AML-90 hybrid vehicles but can anyone tell me if the vehicle still retains any dismount capability or is the former troop compartment now fitted with ammunition racks instead?

Yes the BTR-60 seems to have been used as a base hull for all sorts of interesting conversions over the years.  Cuba also has an SPAAG based on a BTR-60; some websites have it listed as being an open top turret fitted with Czech 30mm anti-aircraft guns.  There are one or two pictures kicking about of an SA-9 "Gaskin"-type quad SAM missile launcher based on a BTR-60 as well.  I'm wondering if the BTR-60 is getting close to rivalling the likes of the MT-LB and the M113 as far as sheer numbers of variants goes.
