MIAMI, July 6 (UPI) -- Memory impairment was reversed in aged mice, bred to develop symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, after they were given caffeine, U.S. researchers said.

Researchers at the University of South Florida said back-to-back studies show caffeine significantly decreased abnormal levels of the protein linked to Alzheimer's disease -- both in the brains and in the blood of mice exhibiting symptoms of the disease.

Both studies build upon previous research by the University of South Florida that showed caffeine in early adulthood prevented the onset of memory problems in mice bred to develop Alzheimer's symptoms in old age.

Caffeine is NOT equal to coffee. I get enough caffeine every day and I haven't had coffee in many years.

Coffee. It's part of the holy trinity after beer and bourbon.

Our church imports a container full or so a month from the villages around the area where we do habitual mission trips. We then have a congregation member arrange roasting at a family business, and they distribute it in local grocery stores. The villagers get paid way above the going rate, and all of the church's costs are more than covered, so it's a mutual win-win.

But the coffee. . . .<Homer Simpson>Uuuuummm</Homer Simpson> The most delicious French and Full City Roasts in whole bean, tons of natural oils, bursting with flavor, fresh as can be, and all @ $9/lb. I wake up excited for java in the mornings.

I dunno, if it works exactly like "real" caffeine then it's plenty real to me.

I have an old fashioned coffee percolator attached to a timer in my kitchen. I set the thing up before bed each night so when I get out of bed (as opposed to waking up - too different things) there is a pot of hot coffee waiting for me: I cannot wake up without it.

Did I just say that? Did I just say I don't drink coffee and prefer tea? Did I, huh, did I?

Because awhile ago, I was at a trade fair killing some time when I passed in front of a stall that sells native Batangas-brew kape barako. Sure, nothing new, move along. Oops, waitaminute, my gawd, the woman manning the stall has beautiful eyes, ooh very nice long black hair, oh dear she's looking at me, eye contact, gosh, oh sh1t she smiles, oh man that is heart melting, she is oozing with sex appeal, golliness she's so beautiful, gotta go buy a cup.

So I did buy a cup of coffee from her and got suckered into buying a bag of beans as well. <_< I'm such a sucker....

And yes I drank the stuff. It's pretty ok.

Still prefer tea. :P

If you could go back and 'make beans' with the coffee-bean woman, wouldn't that be worth trading tea for coffee?

If he does and does, will that say anything about the qualities of coffee, or the qualities of the woman? :)

Seems to me like it wouldn't matter, and would also be a win/win for our brother Tomas. Born-again coffee-drinker, who is also dater of smoking-hot purveyor of coffee-beans.

Note how our young padawan was sucked into buying a cup just because the charming Filipina smiled at him, and apparently could have 'roused the dead' if you take my meaning. Imagine same young padawan telling his tea-drinking heathen friends about the coffee-shop woman, whom he just happens to be dating. She'll make a pile of money, she'll probably show him a little gratitude in return. At that point, does it really matter if the coffee's any good?

I enjoy coffee every day. Am just thinking about getting into the roasting side of the game.
I prefer my coffee as I prefer women; strawberry blond and hot!

The Bean Stop in Eau Claire Market is set to start serving Kopi Luwak better known as cat poop coffee on Tuesday, one of the most unique blends available anywhere on the planet.

Been getting this http://www.nmpinonco...=1&pf_id=NMP5LB at Costco for a few months the wife and I really like it. It has an amazing aroma and a unique taste, plus it's fairly inexpensive.

Recently in some medical article I read that coffe seems to be of benefit somehow in preventing colon cancer, which I thought was interesting because of all the colon cancer in my dads side - including my siblings and other close paternal side rellys, and I've had precancerous colon adenoma removed in past. My daily coffee addiction may be helping me here then if this is true about these benefits.

Seems theres both good and bad benefits to reap in most things in general

Shameless and hardened Tea drinker here as well. When I get a craving for coffee, I go to BigBucks (Starbucks) and get a cup of overpriced, burnt yuppie coffee.

I don't drink coffee. I prefer tea.

Although it's been a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time since I drank a nice cup of hot tea. :( (used to drink everyday - and then I couldn't sleep well and had stomach problems  )
