T-34-85 of Czechoslovakia production in the streets of Budapest. By looking at the coat of arms it is possible to determine that the vehicle was operated by rebels.

There are several views of that IS3 with the four coffins. That always gets me :(

How vulnerable were those to molotov cocktails?

Not very much. Those were basically only effective vs BTR-40/152 that were used in fighting, due the open topped design.

There were more than tanks involved in this operation.  The Tu-4, Soviet copy of the B-29 - almost saw action - a squadron being sent to bomb rebel headquarters, but were recalled prior to crossing the border.

This was the closest that the Tu-4 came to bombing a target.

If the rebels had won and Hungary gone to NATO, it would have made for a rather interesting Iron Curtain...

Problem was that rebels were very diverse bunch (varied from Communists to surviving far right groups) so there was no real unified cause, even if Soviets left them alone. Best hope for West was they would go Yugoslavia way, communist but non-aligned to Soviets.

Minor point but on the photos of the T-34-85s they seem to have a variety of road wheels.  Some solid, some spoked (if that's the correct term) and in various positions.  Were the solid road wheels replaced with the spoked variety as they wore out or was there some other reason?

depended on what part came through supply to replace a worn roadwheel.

even on pedestals you find mixed wheels like here in Berlin at the Soviet victory monument
