French Post WWII armor has got to be some of the wackiest stuff. What is there to say about the Lorraine 40 tonne tank design? Hull similar to a panther, except it has a pike nose like an IS-3, and oscillating turret, and pneumatic road wheels.
Also fun is the AMX-50 Foch, which is like a jagdpanther on steroids. The gun is, I believe, essentially the same weapon as the M103 and Conqueror were packing. Note the interleaved road wheels; the French were the only ones to screw around with those post-war.
Alas, actual French service designs ended up being... more prosaic. I presume this was due to economic difficulties in the immediate post-war era, and the availability of cheap US equipment.
