Has anyone ever tried putting a slat screen on the gun barrel - then you get a huge standoff effect and it can be pointed at the expected threat direction? It will screw with the stabiliser though.

Would probably fall off after a few hours...

Possibly, but you could get it to work I think.

More slant/cage armor, this time on the side of a Turkish M60A3:

And here's a pretty cool nighttime view of that same tank:

"Sage Thinker" looks like a Jihadi propagandist to me, and his stuff about Dier az-Zour rings quite false compared with both Coalition and Russian accounts of the fighting there.

That's the value, these guys disappear quickly when people report them, I like to just watch. If anyone has friends who value recent videos of active terrorists planning violence, some showing their faces, there they are.

The militia-nature of ISIS seems apparent.

The meme-tweet is here. Its caption: "The clashes in #NorthHamaCS was the end of the story for HTS's T-90 Knocked out by an APFSDS round from an #SAA T-72".

Huh? HTS is an Al-Qaeda affiliate, even if they claim not to be. That tank's crew were bad guys.

Exactly.

If I knew that a captured T-90 is in the area, I would load APFSDS too.

Actually, some more reliable sources says it was an airstrike that took it out.

Second captured T-90A was reclaimed by the SAA. The gunner of the tank was killed, but the damage that the tank received was not too bad. http://vestnik-rm.ru/news-4-21416.htm

The entry hole looks more like a hit from an older APFSDS rounds than the damage from a missile or bomb to me.  That's just my somewhat educated guess, though. YMMV

Is there a photo of the entry hole? So far I have not seen it. I doubt it was a bomb because the era and tracks are still attached.

Could have been a missile of some sort.
