Makes for some very interesting reading!
I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to tell people that the Soviets also have their own R&D teams and don't simply "copy everything made in the West", so to read something from accounts by staff made at the time is really refreshing to be honest. Another surprise to me was how few Pz III's were available at the time, I was under the impression that the numbers even by then would have been much larger than that (even if they were the earlier variants with the 37mm cannon).

Testing ERA vs BM42 and BM22 with 80-60% decrees of penetration.
It is not just a research article, this design is in use on one of the russian vechicles.
Without ERA top left.

Which tank has this particular ERA design?
Which "particular ERA design"? The journal article to the photos is from the year 1991.
If so, then this knowledge is really realized at ERA RELIKT, in parts already at KONTAKT-V , i think

The ERA design detailed in this paper matches Kontakt-5 in the operating principle, but it does not exactly match Kontakt-5 on either the T-72/90 or the T-80.

Yes, yesterday was the 25th anniversary of that first assault - officially carried out by Chechen opposition. There were a few photos about it in VK social network.

Wiedzmin; thanks for the photos! IIRC, my initial question wasn't about the tank on top, but the hull remnant on the bottom with the exposed glacis. These photos confirm that the remnant is a T-72B...five layers all steel.

The alternative narrative is in the Osprey book by Mark Galeotti on the Chechen war. I wont bore with repeating it, other than its worth reading.
There was a really good book about the Chechen war called 'The Sky Wept Fire', and it sounds horrific. The remains of one of the crew could be seen draped in a nearby tree.

T-72B have different hull front

but i still trying to find video before all these tanks were destroyed

Wiedzmin; over the years, there have been reports that the glacis array on the T-72B has varied with all steel layers being the common denominator. IMO, both of those exposed glacis armor arrays belong to the T-72B.

It's good to have confirmation that the cassettes really have the capability to turn in mid-air. There was really no other explanation for the new position of the cassette launchers on Arena-M.
