I'm interested in what's going on with that M60A1 at the far end of the firing line...

I could probably squeeze my feet and lower legs into a ball turret...

Ex-sailor question, but is a tank's transmission in neutral when firing main armament?

None of mine ever were. In a static, range setting like proofing the main gun, the transmission was in park.

Could be, doesn't have to be.  Could be in reverse or drive.  In this particular instance the transmission is undoubtedly in neutral with the park brake set.
