It's the entire reason I'm going to sign up for HBO next month.  I figure I can binge watch the hell out of everything I want to see on HBO in my free month then cancel.

True. 😀
On the other hand it was written by a maester sitting in the Citadel (we saw Sam talking to the author while it was unfinished), who probably never left the place, conducted few if any interviews of the principal people, and therefore almost certainly was based mostly on massages flown in by ravens over the years. One may generously postulate that the official raven messages would have been supplemented by additional messages sent through the old boys network, but it is sort of comparable to someone writing a history of the past ten years based primarily on stuff posted on Twitter.

Maybe Tyrion should consider himself lucky.

I think Deadwoods brilliance was in showing the whole town as a kind of weird ecosystem you had badasses like Seth Bullock but It was always kind of obvious where they fit in to the whole thing. Very excited about the movie; David Milch has altzheimers now and gambled away all his money so its sort of his last run.

Someone on freefolk brought up a hypothetical final scene where bran is alone, touches the scar from the night king on his arm, and looks up as his eyes turn blue

Dany's story was fine.  The execution was atrocious.

As for the current vogue of thrashing GoT, that is the cool and sophisticated consensus at the moment. Obviously, the last few seasons have not matched the earlier ones in quality, so there is plenty of stuff to gripe about, and I suspect some lemming effect is part of it.
Retroactively declaring the series as a whole a waste, however, is just silly.  It was and as a whole remains a landmark series.

Big problem for GoT is that the series is not anywhere as deep as the books. Hardcore fans look for clues from the books, but they don't apply to the series which is so much more simplistic, and are disappointed when their fan theories and favourite angles are ignored. Another problem is that they can't keep the series going forever, actors want to go to do other stuff and what they have told in the news, were very much burned out towards the end. So it's not like they realistically could have done another 30 episodes. They had to rush it in and it hurt the storytelling hugely.

No question there has been some real bad writing going on too. GoT team is just not that great without the crutches which is the books. More they need to come up by themselves, more it sucks. Particularly, character of Tyrion has been massive disappointment for last 3 or so seasons. They just don't know how to write him. Daenerys has supposedly smartest man of Westeros as a counselor, and he is never any use.

Any way, I think the Web Mob has overreacted bigtime. Season 8 wasn't particularly great, but no worse than 6 or 7, so I really don't get why the people are complaining about NOW. It's just absurd, seems like lots of people are butthurt when the ending did not satisfy their particular view how things should go down (see also: Star Wars). It's particularly daft complaint to make when the whole gimmick of the series is to surprise and come up with shocking new twists.
Reviewing S8, Episode 1 was ok, Ep. 2 was boring, Ep. 3 was ok, 4 was crap, 5 was ok and last episode was quite good and probably second best episode of last two seasons. Characterisation was lazy and loads of things were rushed, but they covered nearly all plot points if anything better than I expected after S7. Also, I must say that even when the writing was bad, cinematography was often quite excellent. Last episode was in many places very gorgeous to watch.

For 35 years world has thought that Metallica song "For Whom the Bell Tolls" was written inspired by Hemingway's book. We now find out what it was REALLY written for:
