To be honest, how you move those Marines is going to be moot given recent developments as they and their kit will doubtless be on their way home soon.

I always found the idea of the Soviets invading Northern Norway dubious for a number of reasons. It would have been very easy to interdict their advance route (singular) and resupply lines even with 1980s or earlier technology. Clearly, Norway does feel threatened now though.

Well we will see. From recent events I think Trump had a bridge too far. When even ardent Trump supporters on Tanknet are criticising him, Im thinking a Rubicon has been crossed.

Agreed, I cant see them invading Norway. I think it better to view that forward emplaced equipment for intervention in the region rather than Norway proper.

It's a bit of a crap place to keep stuff for interventions, other than that you can keep it underground.

I think you're right, and while Trump is trying to walk his performance back, I don't see that working.

And on another note about bridges too far we have this shot of a large tour walk in Nijmegen that was heavily attended by US servicepeople.

The European Union and Japan have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
This issue was discussed at the EU-Japan Summit, which is held in Tokyo on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have also reaffirmed the full support for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The full implementation of the Minsk agreements is the only way to settle the conflict," European Council President Donald Tusk said at the summit.

The parties are expected to sign the agreements on strategic partnership and economic partnership.

Lucky Montenegro doesnt have any warm-water ports on the Adriatic that would be of interest to Russia.

However, it has lots of hot women that could potentially replace the ones that keep leaving Russia in droves via dating sites. :)

Shit PR and shit journalists as usual. "Range" in this case is some kind of function from range of platform. Which kind - only that dumb "source" knows.

It was described as joint training with long-range aviation, so nothing strange - Tu-22M3 is carrying own weapons. No idea what is practical use of it (except long range aviation sharing the moment of publicity). I can think of X-32 used as "first wave" weapon to detect the exact location of the target and uplink its location back to Mig-31\Dagger(Kinzhal)

Given that the MIG-31 should have better launch kinetics, I'd thought that maybe they were referring to a heavier version of the missile - or as you suggest, that the TU-22 itself has longer range.  Also possible is that the first couple tests did not test the weapon at its maximum range.

It is directly stated that according to "source" better range is from range of platform.

Makes sense - the TU-22 has a range of over 6,000km, so 3000km would be the combat radius.

Yes, and missile will fly 0.9km.
I already said: dumb source, dumb quotes. Do not try to seek logic in it.
