Having just sacrificed $45 to the altar of decent reading at the hand of the Military Book Club (Been a member since 2002, got my commitment through in a hurry, and haven't bought much since), I was wondering if anyone else was in one of these gimmicks?

And to answer the other burning question on your minds, I bought Clash of the Carriers by Barrett Tillman and Austerlitz 1805 by Robert Goetz. Never mind the fact I just found the Austerlitz book for $0.27 on Amazon, and I think I did alright... <_<

It's not so much that the quality of books offered by the MBC has gone down, it's just that you can get the same books cheaper elsewhere. I still belong, but rarely buy anything from them. Think the last book I bought from them was the WW2 USMC OOB. Normallly around $65, got it for $30. :D

I belong.

I've been a member off and on for 20 years.

But I'm not involved in any contract commitment. No auto shipping or such.
They just send me the monthly review package . I prolly bought 5/6 books in '05 including some of Harry Yeide's.
