NOT trying to start a conspiracy war here, but I thought this is an interesting historical tidbit:

I was reloading from my left-hand pouch ;)

Unless I'm shooting left-handed, those port-side charging handles are a pain.  :P

I watch videos where I see people with AK holding on to the pistol grip, and then reaching UNDER the weapon with their left hand to charge the weapon... Man, that's just awkward.

In Singapore we have no gun culture and what we know we learn in the Army. And in the army, you hold your weapon with your left hand, and charge the rifle (M16) with your right hand. If Eugene Stoner had intended for the rifle to be charged with the left, he might have placed the charging handle on the left and maybe even forward like the G3 or MP5?

But of course, the M16 was designed with the bolt hold open and the bolt release on the left, one could argue... So after the first charge, the operator can basically leave his hand on the pistol grip while re-loading with the left hand.

Hold with left, change mag then rack it with the right-hand w/o removing it from a shoulder was standard in training for me if a gun was empty. If there was round in the chamber (replacing a semi-depleted mag) standard was to do so with a left hand (so you have an opportunity for at least one shot if SHTF).

Also, standard "combat, not expecting contact" carry was safety off, no round in a chamber as it was considered faster to rack it than to fiddle with the safety if SHTF.

Use of the right hand for loading and chambering was how I was trained on the M14 and M16 (admittedly, back in the '70s).  I also like to lower the weapon so I'm not waving the muzzle in the air to draw attention while reloading; this favors using the right hand.

Puzzling.  A weapon developed in a state with significant rifle ownership restrictions by a company whose expertise is primarily in lighter than air aircraft.  Only link is the company CEO association with Ukraine.

It would have been totally awesome if they had designed a new slightly longer receiver that takes the vz.58 pattern magazines.. Those hold the bolt back on the last round. And are lighter than your usual trench digging steel AK magazine. (but that is a dream)

This whole deal smells of corruption to funnel money.

Chino, that video pretty much sums up my approach to rifle handling.

Shortened DPM from the Georgian civil war. Supposedly worked OK.
