Is this unique to Germany or do other NATO countries have such dedicated units?

Spain has not one but 2 squadrons, as the original one was insufficient to meet all needs

One of the many missions of the ObjSRgtLw. The protection teams are picked more or less ad hoc from the  four active and three reserve squadrons of the regiment (functionally sized like infantery companies, but, you now, the flappy birds). Picked for who is currently fully trained up for the job. Ironically regimental HQ is in Schortens near Wilhelmshaven. You'd think that the naval infantry was stationed there.

military unit names can really go in only 2 directions , either Phoenix Ravens or  ObjSRgtLw
