They've tested Oplot's all components already but I don't have any result . IMO BM-42 mango is the APFSDS for Oplot so the result should be the same as other tank.

If that is the actual ammunition used by Oplot I wonder it came from, because it is not produced in Ukraine. BM44U and BM44U1 are offered but I am not sure with current status.

Ah, that would make sense.

Does it strike you that the fuze plugs on the two HE rounds seem to be of different sizes? To me the one on the left of the picture seems larger than the one on the right of the picture. Optical illusion or reality?

It also seems like the other guy with a charge may also be holding the fuze in his left hand, base towards us, and it is definitely smaller than the one stacked on the charge.

Two different HE rounds, one with a fancy multipurpose fuze?

I suspect the shells are closed with a plastic plug. The fuse is screwed later.

Does somebody has data about 76 mm APDS and APFSDS from the late 1970s / early 80s ?

I'm trying to estimate the protection level of the AMX-40 (first prototype in 1983), it is said that the mantlet can withstand 76 mm KE rounds.

Can't tell about the APFSDS, but the HEAT rounds look like M456A1.  The spike appears to be too slender for M456A2.

The last picture here, does that look to be an almost-on-the-limit perforation there, with probably a plug-type failure?

I've not seen any test plates that show quite that level of deviation at the end before (not that I see many test plates).

Gentlemen, this ex-sailor would like to know if there is any actual testing with factual results of Cold War tank ammunition vs Cold War tanks?

Thank you.

I tried to search бм-48 and then find this pic.
So,the BM-48 APFSDS round is actually service in Russian army?

Regulations say you should never put ammo on dirt, but should use a tarp to prevent junk sticking to ammo...

Is that a part of the autoloader system that is clamping the propellant together with the projectile?
