I read that the USMC were procuring the French 120mm rifled mortar or a variant thereof. Had they previously standardised on the M120? I thought the USMC hadn't operated any heavy mortars (M30 mortars or M98 Howtars) since the 1960s or early 70s. This video appears to show marines using an M120.

No they did not. have deployed the EFSS - .

Expeditionary Fire Support System

Prior to that they only had the 81mm and the 155mm M198 which is being replaced with the M777.

We used some that were Army theater wide property. Mostly in Astan. S/F....Ken M
